Bribie Island paddle 16th April 2011

Went for a paddle in the kayak last Saturday to see if there were any Tailor getting around the north end off Bribie Island across the passage from Bullock Beach .A  fishing report said they were around in abundance but I shouldn't have listen to the report in hindsight as I have heard dubious reports from the same source, anyway I didn't raise any fish let alone Tailor so someone probably caught one and this expanded to hundreds.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------All in all it was a good paddle with a nice sunrise and a good chance to practice casting the flyrod from a kayak-next time maybe.

No more lake fishing for mullet

The hypocritical wanna be wildlife warriors finally got their way and fishing is now banned from the lake at Alex that I have been catching some cracker sea mullet on fly-I'M SPEWIN'. Several walkers with their dogs off their leash's used to abuse me about fishing in a nature reserve of which it is not telling me there was no fishing "can't you read the sign"- my reply always was "You read the sign back to me where it says no fishing" meanwhile their reading the sign-I'm waiting what does it read ? Nothing about no fishing it recommends not feeding the birds -NOTHING ABOUT FISHING-GO F### OFF. Meanwhile these f##kwits don't pick up their dogshit and let their dogs chase all the swans and ducks off the grass into the water. What pisses me off the most is being a flyfisher I am very aware of the enviroment and don't leave anything behind -no hooks, line or rubbish more to the contrary I removed rubbish every time I was there. When the mullet weren't cooperating I used to practice my casting by casting to plastic bags in the lake and removing them to the rubbish bins-you never saw those dogs doing that. I haven't fished there since 13/02/11 and do miss those thumper mullet - let's hope karma catches up with them and dishes out some justice
